ISLAMABAD: Investigations into the Cadet College Wana attack have revealed shocking details, according to security sources.
Security sources say , all attackers involved in the assault were Afghan nationals, and the attack was planned in Afghanistan. The final order for the operation came from Khilji Noor Wali Mehsud, who heads the TTP, known as Fitna al Khawarij.
Sources said the militants were following instructions received from Afghanistan during the attack. Khilji Zahid reportedly planned the operation, while responsibility for the attack was claimed by the Fitna al Khawarij sub-group Jaish-ul-Hind on the orders of Khilji Noor Wali Mehsud.
Security officials noted that Noor Wali Mehsud sought to shield the Fitna Khawarij TTP from responsibility. A video produced during the attack repeatedly mentioned Jaish-ul-Hind instead of the actual perpetrators. Afghan Taliban allegedly pressured Fitna Khawarij not to reveal their true identity, fearing increased scrutiny on the Taliban from Pakistan and other allied nations.
All materials used in the attack were reportedly supplied from Afghanistan. Weapons included U.S.-made firearms. Officials said the operation aimed to escalate security concerns in Pakistan on the alleged demand of Indian intelligence agency RAW.
Separately, the suicide bomber involved in the Islamabad blast has been identified as an Afghan national. Authorities also arrested a facilitator from Bajaur in connection with the attack.
These revelations underscore the transnational nature of terrorist networks operating in Pakistan and highlight ongoing security challenges along the Afghan border.
