QUETTA: In a landmark move aimed at revolutionizing the consumer experience, the Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) has launched a innovative mobile application, “Apna Meter, Apni Reading,” designed to empower users and bring unprecedented transparency to the electricity billing process. The initiative, a directive from the federal Power Division, has been implemented by the Power Information Technology Company (PITC).

The new app marks a significant shift towards consumer-centric services by allowing electricity customers to take billing into their own hands. The core function of the application enables consumers to personally submit their monthly meter readings by simply uploading a clear photograph of their meter. This direct user input is poised to eliminate long-standing grievances related to inaccurate estimated readings and overbilling, which have been a major source of frustration for the public.

Officials have outlined a simple process for consumers: download the app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, register an account using their details, and upload the meter reading photo before the monthly billing cycle concludes. QESCO has assured that this streamlined process will not only ensure billing accuracy but also enhance the overall efficiency and transparency of the electricity distribution system across its network.

In an official statement, QESCO officials urgently appealed to all consumers to install the application and participate actively in this new system. They emphasized that by providing clear and timely meter images, consumers can directly contribute to their own precise and fair billing. This initiative is seen as a critical step in fostering trust between the utility provider and its customers, promising a more reliable and user-friendly service for the people of Balochistan.

Meanwhile the Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti has directed authorities to implement stricter measures to prevent the illegal shipment of sugar outside the province, ensuring its stable supply and availability for local consumers.
