Sri Lank’s tour to Pakistan likely to be rescheduled

RAWALPINDI: The Sri Lank’s tour to Pakistan is likely to be rescheduled.

The Sri Lankan Cricket board has said that 8 players of the Sri Lankan Cricket Team may return to home.

According to a televised report, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board has said that after the assurance of the security from Pakistani officials, the players’ decision to return to country is beyond understanding.

However, a news agency has claimed that 8 members of the Sri Lankan Cricket Team will return to their country tomorrow.

The Sri Lankan Cricket Board has said that if it happens, the other players will be called up to complete the tour.

The news agency has said that the second match of the ODI series is likely to be rescheduled amid the current situation.

Earlier, the Interior Minister and the Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi met to Sri Lankan High Commissioner and the players of the Sri Lankan team in Islamabad.

He assured the Sri Lankans of the high-profile security calling them as the ‘state-guests’.

Sri Lankan Board has advised the players to complete the tour to Pakistan to avoid two-years suspension.

It is worth mentioning that the Sri Lankan team was playing their first ODI against Pakistan at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium when the unfortunate incident of the Judicial Complex Islamabad took place. However, all seems set now and the second ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be played on the same Pindi Cricket Stadium tomorrow.

In the first of the three-ODIs series, Pakistan had beaten Sri Lanka with a narrow margin of 6 runs after a thriller between the two teams.

Sri Lanka could manage 293 while chasing Pakistan’s target of 300 runs. Salman Ali Agha had scored a century whereas Hussain Talat had made 62 runs.

In reply, Sri Lanka, despite a brilliant start and a terrific fight, fell just six runs short of Pakistan’s total.

Hassaranga , after his phenomenal performance with the ball, batted magnificently and brought his team quite close to the target.

He had picked up three wickets and had scored 59 runs.

Haris Rauf had picked up four wickets whereas Naseem Shah and Faheem Ashraf shared two wickets each.

Both the teams will also play a tri-nation T20 series after the ODI series with the inclusion of Zimbabwe. The matched will be played at Rawalpindi and Lahore.
