QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, addressing a gathering at the Allama Iqbal Conference, called upon students to elevate their selfhood and establish a unique identity rather than merely following others. The conference, held at Tameer-e-Nau Boys College and attended by a large number of teachers and students, was praised by the Governor as a valuable intellectual event that would positively impact the youth.
Governor Mandokhail stated that the philosophy and poetry of Allama Muhammad Iqbal revolutionized intellectual thought in the subcontinent, particularly guiding Muslims to reconstruct their religious philosophy. Quoting Iqbal’s famous verse, “Create your own world if you are among the living,” the Governor emphasized that Iqbal’s work inspired a critical re-examination of beliefs and identity, which ultimately awakened a sense of freedom and became a foundation for the independence movement.
He underscored that no national or political movement can succeed without robust intellectual guidance, asserting that the combination of a thoughtful vision and practical struggle is essential for achieving any set goals. “This occasion reminds us of the ideals that Allama Iqbal preached through his poetry and philosophy — the supremacy of Islam, the progress of Muslims, and the unity of the Ummah,” he added.
In a message of resilience, Governor Mandokhail urged students not to lose hope during difficult times, noting that victory and defeat are both part of life, but there is always room for improvement. He concluded by urging the youth to not only understand but also actively act upon the true message of the ‘Poet of the East’. The Governor also congratulated the winners of the accompanying debate competition and appreciated the Tameer-e-Nau Trust for successfully organizing the conference and engaging students in meaningful academic discourse.
In a separated development the Balochistan’s government has imposed a three-day ban on public transport across the province from November 12 to 14.
The provincial Home Department announced that all intercity and interprovincial public transport services will remain suspended during the period. The measure, the government said, has been taken to ensure security and maintain public order.
