Security forces intercept major drug consignment in Parom

PAROM: The security forces successfully intercepted a major drug consignment near the Basatang Post. The operation was part of a series of ambushes launched since November 4, following critical revelations made by a neutralized trafficker, Abdul Khalique alias Wadoo, a resident of Shamesar, Iran.

In this regard, Khalique had disclosed key information regarding cross-border drug routes used by trafficking networks operating between Iran and Pakistan.

In this sense, at approximately 2330 hours on November 8, a Special Operations Team (SOT) from 137 Wing laid an ambush and successfully intercepted a vehicle transporting narcotics en route to the Zamuran Range.

Furthermore, the occupants opened fire on the security personnel, triggering an exchange of gunfire.

During the encounter, one trafficker, identified as Muhammad Adil, a resident of Kalag, Panjgur, was neutralized.

Moreover, the subsequent search of the vehicle led to the recovery of approximately 400 kilograms of opium, and a double-cabin vehicle, and one sub-machine gun (SMG).

The initial investigations suggest that the seized consignment was intended for delivery to known handlers identified as Abid alias Chakkar and Asim alias Rehan, both operating out of Zamuran.

However, the operation further revealed that the smuggling network was being managed by Sanaullah, a resident of Paroom, who is currently based in Shamesar, Iran.

In addition, his brother, Bashir, identified as a local area commander, is also believed to be residing in Shamesar.

The security sources described the operation as a “precise and intelligence-driven effort” aimed at dismantling transnational networks involved in narcotics smuggling, which are known to fund anti-state activities.

The recovery indicates one of the largest drug seizures in the area this year and underscores the increasing collaboration between intelligence and field units to curb the menace of cross-border narcotics trade.
