Balochistan Forest Secretary inspects key environmental initiatives in Quetta

QUETTA: Secretary of Forest and Wildlife Balochistan, Abdul Fattah Bhanger, visited the Water Resources Building in Quetta to review watershed management and afforestation activities under the Balochistan Water Resources Development Sector Project (BWRDSP) of the Irrigation Department.

Project Director Engineer Sufiyan Durrani and his team welcomed Bhanger and briefed him on the project’s ongoing initiatives, guiding him through various sections of the facility.

During the visit, Bhanger inspected the Balochistan Water Resources Information System (BWRIS) data center, conference hall, and surrounding green belts. He praised the project team for maintaining high construction standards, aesthetic appeal, and environmental integration, describing the green infrastructure as a model of sustainable development in the province.

While chairing a meeting, the Secretary reviewed activities at Siri Toi Dam, Zhob, focusing on watershed management, afforestation, and environmental restoration. Forest Department officers offered recommendations to enhance ecosystem conservation, biodiversity restoration, and community engagement in environmental initiatives.

Bhanger reaffirmed the Forest and Wildlife Department’s commitment to sustainable natural resource use and efficient water management, emphasizing inter-departmental coordination as vital for climate resilience and environmental restoration in Balochistan.

Engineer Sufiyan Durrani thanked the Secretary for his leadership and support, highlighting the importance of institutional collaboration in promoting integrated environmental development. The meeting concluded with agreements on future joint actions and follow-up activities.
