Chief Secretary pushes for tech-based governance in Balochistan

QUETTA: Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan chaired a key meeting of the Secretaries Committee on Monday to review governance reforms, focusing on digital transformation, project monitoring, and transparency in development initiatives.

The meeting, held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, was attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Development) Zahid Saleem, CMIT Chairman Muhammad Ali Kakar, and secretaries from all provincial departments.

Khan said the government is committed to using modern technology to improve service delivery and strengthen public trust. He directed departments to immediately activate online billing and ensure fund disbursements through the SAP system to streamline financial operations.

He ordered the mandatory use of the File Tracking System across all departments to enhance transparency and accountability in official workflows.

The Chief Secretary instructed the Planning and Development Department to make its Monitoring and Evaluation Section fully operational to identify problems and take corrective action based on project tracking reports.

He also called for the swift resolution of complaints filed through the Pakistan Citizen Portal to promote responsive governance.

Khan emphasized the government’s focus on health, education, employment, and sanitation projects aimed at improving public confidence and addressing key social challenges.

He directed departments to use social media to highlight project progress and ensure transparent communication with the public.

The Chief Secretary urged timely completion of development projects and transparent recruitment for vacant posts to uphold institutional integrity.

“These proactive measures reflect our resolve to improve citizens’ lives and advance social welfare across Balochistan,” Khan said.
