RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces killed three militants linked to the Indian proxy network Fitna al-Khwarij in two separate operations in KP – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military’s media wing said on Monday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), troops detected the movement of a group of militants near the Esham area of North Waziristan, as they attempted to infiltrate across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
Security forces swiftly engaged the group, killing two militants associated with Fitna al-Khwarij. One of the dead was identified as Qasim, an Afghan national who previously served in the Afghan Border Police, ISPR said.
In a separate intelligence-based operation in the Tank district, troops killed another militant from the same network. He was identified as Ikramuddin, also known as Abu Dajana, an Afghan national.
ISPR said the incidents highlight the continued involvement of Afghan nationals in terrorist activities targeting civilians and security forces inside Pakistan.
Islamabad has repeatedly urged the interim Afghan government to improve border management and prevent its citizens and territory from being used for terrorist activities in Pakistan, the statement added.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s borders and said sanitization operations were underway in the area to eliminate any remaining Indian-backed militants.
It said the ongoing counterterrorism campaign under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, will continue at full pace to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
