QUETTA: A high-level meeting of the Secretaries’ Committee, chaired by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, was held to review the quarterly performance reports of provincial departments.
During the session, Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan gave a detailed briefing, stating that the performance of 38 departments had been evaluated based on 644 different indicators.
According to the briefing, the Livestock Department ranked first in performance, followed by the Finance Department in second place and the Urban Planning and Development Department in third.
The Law Department secured the fourth position, while the Agriculture Department came fifth.
Among the underperforming departments, the Local Government Department ranked the lowest, followed by the Women Development Department and the Inter-Provincial Coordination Department in second and third positions, respectively.
The Labour and Manpower Department stood fourth, and CMIT ranked fifth. Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti commended the heads of top-performing departments and instructed the secretaries of weaker departments to improve their performance.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized that good governance can gradually reduce public issues.
He stated that pulling Balochistan out of its challenges requires dedication, honesty, and consistency.
The Chief Minister directed all departments to ensure transparency in service delivery, decision-making, and administrative affairs.
He further remarked that no one from outside will resolve the province’s problems — it is the collective responsibility of its own institutions and officials.
Bugti also instructed that the pace of development projects be accelerated to provide early relief to the public and strengthen their trust in the government.
It is worth mentioning that a special focus is made on the performances of the department under the ongoing government.
The departments have been stressed to enhance their performances so that the development projects as well as the public service is carried out with a lot more proficiency than it was done before.
