Khuzdar: The Jinnah Stadium in Khuzdar, which usually echoes with the sound of cricket and sports, transformed into a vibrant cultural haven today.
Sunlight glimmered across the grounds while the pleasant scent of books mingled with the aroma of traditional foods, creating an unforgettable atmosphere.
This was the Khuzdar Book and Cultural Festival — a historic event organized under the leadership of Commissioner Qalat Division Dr. Tufail Ahmed Baloch and Deputy Commissioner Khuzdar Yasir Iqbal Dashti, with the dedicated efforts of ADC Rahmatullah Baloch.
Thousands of people flocked to the stadium, as if an ancient Balochi tale had come alive again.
The rhythmic echoes of Brahui folk tunes filled the air, adding enchantment to the day. Commissioner Qalat Division Dr. Tufail Ahmed Baloch graced the event as the chief guest and inaugurated the festival, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Khuzdar Yasir Iqbal Dashti.
Upon entering the stadium, guests were warmly greeted with traditional Balochi hospitality — a welcoming gesture inviting everyone to immerse themselves in the colors of local culture.
Soft notes from Brahui musical instruments welcomed visitors, offering a nostalgic reminder of the region’s rich heritage.
The festival featured a mesmerizing sea of book stalls, showcasing brightly bound works — history books, collections of Balochi poetry, folk literature, historical novels, and colorful storybooks for children. Rare Brahui literary publications preserved the oral traditions of the Baloch people on paper.
As visitors moved forward, the irresistible aroma of traditional cuisine surrounded them.
The smoky scent of Sajji, sizzling kebabs, fresh buttermilk, and stacks of Balochi bread created a food lover’s paradise.
Brahui delicacies stole the spotlight — the crisp taste of Danko, the sweet melt-in-the-mouth roti, the fresh aroma of pure butter, tangy pickles, and the uniquely flavorful Shor Do chutney made every bite memorable. Dry fruits and local spices enriched the cultural experience.
Children ran joyfully with plates of Danko in hand, while elders reminisced over sweet roti and lassi.
Traditional craft stalls drew admiration — hand-embroidered Balochi shawls and dresses, beautiful animal figurines, and woven carpets reflected the skill and dedication of local artisans.
The children’s art section became the heart of creative expression — young painters filled canvases with bright landscapes, Balochi-dressed figures, and colorful scenes of Jinnah Stadium.
Their innocent imagination won every heart as proud parents captured the moments.
As evening approached, the stadium lit up with dazzling lights. Brahui folk singers took the stage, uniting thousands of hearts with their soulful voices.
Speaking at the event, guests said the festival was not merely about books and food — rather, it celebrated heritage, identity, and the dreams of future generations.
They praised the administration’s efforts, especially for highlighting local traditions.
This festival marked a new chapter — a cultural revival turning Khuzdar into a thriving center of Balochistan’s heritage.
The event was attended by Assistant Commissioner Khuzdar Abdul Hafeez Kakar, Assistant Commissioner Wadh Akbar Ali Mazari, President Anjuman Tajiran Hafiz Hameedullah Mengal, President Khuzdar Press Club Abdullah Shahwani, Chairman Press Club Ayub Baloch, Nadeem Garganari, District Livestock Officer Dr. Muhammad Anwar Zehri, DEO Abid Hussain, Education Officer Zahir Kareem, along with representatives from various sectors and a large number of citizens.
