The Balochistan cabinet approves multiple key reforms

QUETTA: CM Sarfaraz Bugti  Presided over the Balochistan cabinet meeting in Quetta.

The provincial cabinet condemned the Afghanistan’s provocation on the border and paid a tribute to the armed forces over their befitting response.

The cabinet members prayed for the martyrs of the armed forces who sacrificed their lives for the defence of the country.

The provincial cabinet passed the right of the amendment for the implementation of section 144.

The DCs, will be eligible to implement the section 144 for 30 days, commissioners for 60 days and the additional secretaries will be able to implement the section 144 for 90 days.

The meeting also approved several other key initiatives, including environmental protection measures and the expansion of the Mangrove Forest Area.

The cabinet passed the establishment of Anti-Sexual Crimes Units, which will register and investigate sexual exploitation cases, and agreed to form a special force to protect women from harassment. \

Additionally, a committee led by Provincial Minister Mir Zahoor Buledi was formed to review the Balochistan Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture Bill.

Further approvals included the Balochistan Control of Narcotic Substances Bill 2025, amendments to Nikah Nama Form-II in line with the Supreme Court’s directives, the Balochistan Overseas Pakistanis Commission Bill 2025, and funds for implementing the Youth Policy.

The cabinet also granted industry status to the Mines and Minerals sector, approved the establishment of a Journalist Colony for Gwadar Press Club members, and endorsed the Balochistan Land Lease Policy 2025.

Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said that successive Afghan governments have maintained a hostile attitude toward Pakistan since 1947.

Despite decades of hospitality extended to Afghan refugees, Pakistan has only received enemity in return.

He affirmed that the federal government’s decision on the repatriation of Afghan refugees is final.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed his government’s commitment to public welfare, transparent governance, and institutional reforms, adding that practical steps are being taken to make Balochistan economically stable, peaceful, and empowered.

The cabinet’s decisions, he noted, reflect the government’s dedication to a better future for the province and the strengthening of public trust.
