A large land handed over to the forest department

Quetta: In a major development, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan and the Government of Balochistan have successfully secured over one million acres of forest land, protecting assets worth billions of rupees from illegal occupation and misuse.

A total of 1,019,969 acres of government land has been officially transferred to the Forest Department, ensuring its long-term legal protection against land grabbers.

According to official reports, the Balochistan government sent a letter of appreciation to NAB Balochistan, acknowledging its effective oversight and guidance in this historic achievement.

The letter also praised the Board of Revenue’s efficient strategy and administrative role in making the process successful.

In the first phase alone, 605,343 acres of land across eight districts have been handed over to the Forest Department — with a market value of approximately Rs. 1,373 billion and a DC value of Rs. 1,334 billion.

The government described this as the largest initiative in Balochistan’s history aimed at ensuring the legal protection of state-owned forests.

This marks the first time since 1890 that such a large-scale effort has been undertaken to safeguard forest lands in the province.

The government credited this success to the combined efforts of NAB Balochistan and the Board of Revenue, whose transparent procedures and consistent coordination helped resolve long-pending land disputes.

It further stated that Forest Settlement Boards and Forest Tribunals have been established in various districts to address the concerns of local tribes and communities through fair and transparent mechanisms.

The Balochistan government is taking necessary measures against the irregularities and the corruption in the province in order to maintain the merit and transparency across the province.

The aim is to strengthen the confidence of the people on the governance, law-and-order and justice system across the province.
