QUETTA; Inspector General of Police Balochistan, Muhammad Tahir, on Friday announced a historic welfare package for police martyrs, serving personnel, and retired officers, introducing a series of major financial relief measures aimed at improving the welfare of police families.
IG Tahir said the package is designed to ensure the well-being of police employees and their families, both in service and after retirement.
Under the new measures, the immediate financial assistance for families of martyrs has been doubled from Rs100,000 to Rs200,000.
The marriage grant for serving police personnel has been raised from Rs12,500 to Rs50,000, while the marriage grant for daughters of martyrs and deceased officers has been increased from Rs50,000 to Rs200,000.
Similarly, daughters of serving and retired personnel will now receive Rs100,000, up from the previous Rs25,000.
The monthly stipend for widows of deceased officers has also been significantly enhanced, with widows of officers up to Grade 18 now entitled to Rs20,000 per month.
The annual educational assistance for children of police personnel has been raised from Rs12,000 to Rs18,000, while the tuition fees of police children enrolled in cadet colleges will now be paid directly through the Police Welfare Fund.
To promote educational excellence, the IG announced cash rewards for children of police officers who secure top positions in Matric and Intermediate exams — Rs50,000 for first position, Rs40,000 for second, and Rs30,000 for third.
The compensation for officers severely injured during duty has been increased from Rs10,000 to Rs100,000, while burial assistance for martyrs has been raised from Rs40,000 to Rs75,000, and Rs100,000 for the transfer of the body outside the province.
IG Muhammad Tahir said these initiatives reflect the police department’s commitment to honouring the sacrifices of its martyrs and ensuring the dignity and welfare of every member of the Balochistan Police family.
