QUETTA: The Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party PKNAP has issued a strong press release condemning the severe gas load shedding in Quetta and surrounding areas, describing the gas company’s actions as “criminal negligence.”
The party stated that the complete shutdown of gas after 10 PM and during the day has made life miserable for citizens, depriving them of a basic necessity. It highlighted that thousands of women, the elderly, sick, and children are facing severe difficulties as they cannot cook food or complete household chores.
The press release expressed that public anger is growing and trust in gas institutions is wavering. The party accused the gas company of incompetence and irresponsibility, noting that despite public complaints and clear orders from the judiciary, no permanent solution has been provided.

The party has demanded an immediate restoration of uninterrupted gas supply to Quetta and its suburbs. It also called for legal action to be taken against the officials responsible for the gas shutdown.
The press release concluded with a warning that if their demands are not met immediately, the party reserves the right to begin peaceful protests, sit-ins, and legal action with full public support, stating clearly that public rights will not be compromised.
On Tuesday, dusty winds and suspended particles in the air caused a sudden temperature drop, bringing the mercury down to 5°C in Quetta valley.
As the cold wave intensified, residents in several areas including Sariab, Ghousabad, and Satellite Town faced severe difficulties due to low gas pressure, making it hard for households to cook meals.
For over a year, Sui Southern Gas Company has been implementing nighttime gas load-shedding in Quetta from 9:30 PM to 6:00 AM, which has further worsened the situation.
Citizens, especially women, continue to face hardships in managing daily household tasks.
Public representatives have urged the government to take immediate action, directing gas authorities to restore full pressure and ensure uninterrupted 24-hour gas supply during the winter months.
Quetta, known for its harsh and prolonged winters, often experiences temperatures dropping below freezing point from late October onward.
