India’s plot of online jobs scam unveiled

Islamabad — Law enforcement agencies have uncovered an alleged Indian conspiracy aimed at extracting sensitive information about Pakistan’s key installations and their locations by deceiving citizens through fake online job offers.

According to sources, security agencies have written to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), requesting immediate action in response to the reports.

The sources revealed that several fraudulent Indian companies and websites were luring Pakistanis with attractive salaries and online job offers, tricking them into sharing personal details, contact information, and in some cases, data about sensitive areas. Suspicious platforms reportedly include LinkedIn, Job Gulf, and other job-related sites being used to target individuals.

The official letter urged that all suspicious websites and links be promptly blocked and that a nationwide awareness campaign be launched.

The PTA has since initiated an alert campaign, advising citizens to remain cautious.

In its advisory, the PTA warned people to avoid responding to unknown job offers, suspicious links, or unverified company profiles.

Citizens have been urged not to share personal or national security-related information and to report any doubtful activities to the relevant authorities immediately.

Security officials further disclosed that some Indian intelligence networks were attempting to collect images and locations of national projects and installations under the guise of surveys and research, posing a potential threat to national security.

Authorities have appealed to the public to verify any online job offer before responding, and to immediately report any suspicious inquiries or unusual information requests to the PTA or law enforcement agencies for timely action.

Citizens are advised to remain vigilant while sharing any kind of personal or professional information online.

Avoid clicking on suspicious links, responding to unknown job offers, or providing details about your workplace, location, or national projects.

Always verify the authenticity of companies before sharing data. Sensitive information should only be shared through official and trusted platforms.
