PM Shehbaz Sharif welcomes Trump’s Gaza peace plan 

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed and backed the US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan.

In a message on his official X handler, the premier Shehbaz Sharif tweeted that durable peace between the Palestinian people and Israel is essential in bringing political stability and economic growth to the region.

ISLAMABAD: The foreign ministers of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Indonesia, Turkiye, Qatar, Egypt and Jordan this week backed US President Donald Trump’s plan to restore peace in Gaza, reaffirming their readiness to engage constructively with Washington and all parties toward finalizing and implementing the agreement.

“I am also convinced that durable peace between the Palestinian people and Israel would be essential in bringing political stability and economic growth to the region,” tweeted the premier on his X account.

The US President’s peace plan for ending the war in Gaza, contained in a 20-point document released by the White House, includes a ceasefire deal, an exchange of hostages held by Hamas and Palestinian prisoners held by Israel, Israeli forces’ withdrawal from Gaza and reconstruction of Gaza.

Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, welcomed President Trump’s proposal to end Israel’s war in Gaza and expressed his firm belief that President Trump is fully prepared to assist in making this extremely important and urgent understanding to become a reality.

The statement said the ministers welcomed Trump’s proposal to end Israel’s war in Gaza, rebuild the area and the American president’s announcement that he would not allow the West Bank’s annexation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the leadership of President Trump and the efforts of US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff for their role in seeking an end to the Gaza conflict.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s principled stance, stressing that the implementation of the two-state solution is vital for achieving lasting peace in the region.
