KALAT: A minor earthquake with a magnitude of 2.8 struck near the city of Kalat in Balochistan on Monday, causing panic among residents.
According to the Seismological Center, the quake’s epicenter was near Kalat at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers. No immediate reports of damage or casualties have been issued.
Why Earthquakes Occur?
They happen due to the sudden release of energy from the Earth’s crust, often in fault zones where tectonic plates collide or slide against each other. The resulting vibrations are known as seismic waves.
