PM Shehbaz Sharif and US President Trump hold informal talks at UN summit

White House confirms Trump-Shehbaz meeting

 Prime Minister PM Shehbaz Sharif and US President Donald Trump engaged in an informal meeting on Tuesday, following the Arab-Islamic Summit held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session.

The interaction between the two leaders was marked by a warm handshake and a candid conversation in a pleasant atmosphere. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar was also present during this exchange.

Looking ahead, Prime Minister Sharif is also likely to hold a one-on-one meeting with President Trump on Wednesday, September 25.

Speaking to Geo News on the sidelines of the UNGA, Prime Minister Sharif praised the US President’s global peace efforts. He noted that President Trump had made important remarks in his address to the General Assembly. The Prime Minister also credited the American leader for playing an “important role in ending the war” between Pakistan and India, a reference to a ceasefire brokered earlier this year.
