SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: The security forces carried out a series of intelligence-based targeted operations in multiple areas of South Waziristan. These strikes were targeting the militants’ hideouts across the territory.
The operations were launched following last week’s assault on the armed forces that claimed the lives of 12 soldiers. The targeted areas included Tangi Badanzai, Razeen, Spin Mela, and Ladha, where militants had established strongholds.
At the incident, security officials endorsed that initial assessments indicate between 8 and 10 Afghan militants were killed during the strikes, while another 16 to 18 were wounded.
Furthermore, the operations also targeted networks believed to be involved in smuggling and other unlawful practices, which had further contributed to instability in the region.
In this regard, military sources focused on that precision was key to the success of the operations, with intelligence enabling accurate targeting of militant hideouts.
The strikes were carried out in a manner designed to minimize collateral damage while maximizing the disruption of militant activities.
The security forces’ campaign underlines Pakistan’s broader commitment to ensuring peace and stability in the tribal districts, which have long suffered from militant violence.
