Massive Wheat Scam Uncovered in Balochistan’s Food Department

QUETTA: The Anti-Corruption Department of Balochistan has arrested two high-ranking officials from the Food Department for their alleged involvement in a major wheat theft.

The officials are accused of embezzling a massive quantity of 21,221 sacks of wheat from a government warehouse located on Sariab Road. Each sack weighed 100 kilograms, making the total stolen amount over 2,122 metric tons.

According to Director General Abdul Waheed Kakar, the stolen wheat was worth approximately 231.8 million rupees. The investigation began after the Food Department itself filed a complaint about the missing wheat.

After a thorough investigation and evidence collection, the Anti-Corruption team registered a formal case. The arrested individuals are the former District Food Officer, Muhammad Zakir Kakar, and the former Assistant Food Officer, Abdul Hafeez. They face charges of abuse of authority, breach of trust, and corruption.

Authorities have stated that more information and potential revelations are expected as the interrogation of the suspects continues.
