Pashtoon Culture Day celebrated across Balochistan

QUETTA: The Directorate of Culture, Balochistan, organized a series of cultural festivals across various cities of the province to indicate the Pashtoon Culture Day.

The events will feature the traditional music, folk dances, poetry recitals, cultural exhibitions, and handicraft stalls, attracting large participation from citizens, students, intellectuals, and cultural enthusiasts.

The Pashtoon Culture Day is observed annually on September 23 to honor the identity and legacy of the Pashtoon nation, which stretches across Pakistan and Afghanistan with significant communities residing in other parts of the world.

Furthermore, the Pashtoons, one of the oldest ethno-linguistic groups in the region, are renowned for their traditions of hospitality (melmastia), courage, and adherence to their code of life known as Pashtoonwali.

Furthermore, the Pashto language, spoken widely in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is among the major languages of Pakistan and has a vast treasury of classical and modern poetry, with legendary poets such as Khushal Khan Khattak and Rahman Baba shaping its literary richness.

In this regard, in Quetta, the colorful processions and cultural shows were organized, where artists performed traditional attan dance and folk singers entertained audiences with melodies celebrating unity and heritage.

The Directorate of Culture reasserted its commitment to organizing similar initiatives in the future, ensuring that cultural diversity remains a source of strength for Balochistan and Pakistan as a whole.
