QUETTA: The Balochistan government has ordered families to immediately report if any relatives go missing or join militant groups, warning of strict legal consequences for non-compliance.
In a notification issued by the Home Department, authorities directed families to inform the nearest police station or FC/army unit within seven days if a family member disappears or affiliates with a non-state group.
The government instructed parents and guardians to submit sworn declarations disowning relatives involved in militancy. It said families must also provide details of relatives already missing within a week, under Sections 118 and 202 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), read with Section 11(1)(EEE) of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), 1997.
The order further required families of individuals already linked to militant outfits to file an affidavit of separation and disownment within seven days, in line with Sections 120 and 120-A of the PPC, read with Section 11(1)(a)(EEE) of the ATA.
The Home Department warned that families who fail to report or disown missing relatives, and whose relatives are later found involved in terrorism, will be treated as abettors under the ATA. Authorities may place their names on the Fourth Schedule under Sections 107, 109 and 114 of the PPC.
