Balochistan News Updates: HPC vaccine is safe: DC Kech

Kech: Deputy Commissioner Kech, Basheer Ahmed Badaich, affirmed that the HPV vaccine is both safe and effective, dismissing rumors circulating on social media as baseless.

He highlighted that the vaccine is already in use across 149 countries and has been endorsed by the World Health Organization and leading medical experts for its proven benefits.

He further announced that beginning in 2027, a vaccination campaign will be launched in Balochistan for girls aged 9 to 15 to protect them from cervical cancer.

The Deputy Commissioner urged parents not to believe unfounded claims and to actively participate in the campaign to safeguard their daughters’ health.

Since its introduction in 2006, the vaccine has been incorporated into national immunization programs in more than 150 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and many European and Asian nations.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends vaccinating girls—and in many regions, boys—typically between the ages of 9 and 14, before they become exposed to the virus.

Worldwide, millions of doses have been administered with a strong record of safety and effectiveness.

Countries such as Australia and Rwanda are notable success stories, showing a significant decline in HPV infections and related cervical abnormalities.

Global health initiatives, like Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, continue to support low- and middle-income countries in introducing the HPV vaccine, aiming for widespread coverage to meet the WHO’s goal of eliminating cervical cancer as a public health problem by 2030.
