QUETTA: In line with the directives of the Balochistan chief minister, practical steps have been accelerated to launch the Peoples Train Service in the provincial capital, Quetta.
The project, which will introduce a railway link from Sariab to Kuchlak, carries an estimated cost of three billion rupees.
As part of the preparations, Balochistan Transport Secretary Hayat Kakar, accompanied by Pakistan Railways staff, conducted an extensive inspection of five railway stations in Quetta.
During the visit, he reviewed facilities at the main railway station, including the turntable, workshop, and locomotive shed.
He also inspected the Sheikh Manda, Beleli, and Kuchlak railway stations.
Speaking on the occasion, the transport secretary said the provincial government, in collaboration with Pakistan Railways, is determined to complete the Peoples Train Service as soon as possible to provide citizens with improved travel facilities.
The visit aimed to assess the current condition of the railway stations and identify necessary repair and renovation work before the official launch of the newly approved service.
Meanwhile Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti presided over the 19th cabinet meeting and described these decisions as a commitment to public interest and sustainable development.
He emphasized that his administration is focused on implementing practical reforms to uplift marginalized groups, including minorities, women, and the transgender community.
The cabinet approved the establishment of a dedicated fund to improve facilities and ensure equal opportunities for minority communities.
It also endorsed a province-wide ban on the publication of hate speech to promote social harmony and reduce divisive rhetoric.
Additionally, the cabinet ratified Balochistan’s inaugural transgender policy, designed to protect rights and promote social and economic inclusion for the transgender community.
Addressing the meeting, CM Bugti highlighted that the cabinet’s decisions reflect transparency, good governance, and a commitment to sustainable progress.

He noted that the government is initiating major projects in health, education, and infrastructure to provide improved facilities and long-term benefits to the public.
