QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti announced the imminent creation of a new district centered on Muslim Bagh during a large public gathering in Killa Saifullah on Tuesday. The event was held at the invitation of local MPA Maulvi Noorullah.
In a wide-ranging address, CM Bugti unveiled several development initiatives for the area, including the construction of the Kan Mehtarzai Dam, new road projects, and a Danish School. He also announced a tractor and Rs. 5 million for the local football stadium’s maintenance.
Alongside these announcements, the Chief Minister delivered a forceful condemnation of terrorism. He declared that acts of violence, whether committed in the name of religion or Baloch rights, are nothing but “cruelty, barbarity, and open hostility to the country.” He asserted that the people of Balochistan form a “leaden wall against terrorists” and vowed never to surrender to them.
He specifically condemned the recent suicide attack on a political rally in Quetta, offering his condolences to the affected families. While affirming the right to peaceful protest, Bugti made it clear that forcibly blocking roads and endangering citizens’ lives would not be tolerated.
On governance, the CM stated that new districts are being established across the province on an administrative basis. He also confirmed the integration of the Levies force into the police but assured local youth would be prioritized for employment in the force. He emphasized that the local people have the first right to the province’s mineral resources, though international experts would be brought in where necessary.
