QUETTA: Deputy Commissioner Quetta Meherullah Badini chaired a key meeting of the District Education Group on Tuesday to review schools operated by unregistered Afghan refugees and other education-related issues.
Additional Deputy Commissioner General, assistant commissioners of sub-divisions, district education officers (male and female), the district treasury officer, and other officials attended the meeting.
Officials briefed the participants that Afghan nationals had established schools in Quetta where both teachers and students were Afghan citizens. Most of these schools, they said, were located in Hazara Town, Pashtoonabad, Alamdar Road, Kirani, and Kambirani areas.
Authorities confirmed they had inspected the institutions and collected full data on Afghan teachers and students. The meeting decided to seal the schools in line with government directives and deport Afghan teachers and students.
The participants also discussed payment issues for newly appointed teachers.
