ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert warning of possible urban flooding in Islamabad and several northern districts of Punjab over the next few hours.
As per the advisory issued by NDMA, heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is expected in parts of Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, and surrounding areas within the next two to six hours.
The alert mentions a significant risk of flash and urban flooding, particularly in low-lying and poorly drained areas.
Furthermore, the authority noted that a system of towering cumulonimbus clouds had formed due to high temperatures observed in the region. The NDMA also cautioned about the possibility of landslides in hilly and mountainous areas, particularly in Murree and Galliyat.
Moreover, the advisory further stated that heavy rains may cause damage to vulnerable infrastructure and trigger power outages in affected areas. In this sense, citizens have also been advised to park their vehicles in safe locations away from water channels and unstable terrain.
The NDMA focused on the importance of public cooperation with emergency services, urging people to closely follow official updates and advisories.
