India’s Interference and Pakistan’s Rising Importance in U.S. Priorities, Says Global Journal

Islamabad: Pakistan’s balanced foreign policy and effective military diplomacy have begun yielding results on the global stage, as highlighted in a recent report by the international journal The Diplomat.

The report emphasized Pakistan’s growing strategic significance and noted a shift in U.S. priorities, with Washington leaning more towards Pakistan rather than India.

According to the publication, Pakistan now holds a crucial role for the United States in both South Asia and the Middle East.

The recent escalation in tensions between Pakistan and India has significantly altered Washington’s assessment of military strength in the region.

The Diplomat pointed out that, under current circumstances, India seems unlikely to maintain its earlier role as a “net security provider.”

In contrast, the strengthening of U.S.–Pakistan relations has reinforced their alignment on mutual interests, signaling that Washington no longer views India as its sole or alternative partner in South Asia.

This policy shift, the report noted, has caused unease in New Delhi.

The journal further observed that, for many years, India remained a top U.S. priority, but that phase has come to an end.

While Pakistan has repeatedly shown willingness to improve ties with India, New Delhi has responded by escalating tensions instead of pursuing peace.

The report also unveiled India of covert interference in Balochistan, including running a campaign of targeted killings in the province.

Highlighting recent developments, the journal stated that the May 2025 Pakistan–India confrontation raised fears of a potential nuclear clash.

However, the United States played a decisive role in brokering a ceasefire.

India’s persistent refusal to engage in dialogue, the report added, has generated uncertainty and strained its relationship with Washington, in sharp contrast to the improving U.S.–Pakistan partnership.
