Rain fills Hub Dam, but Gawadar faces critical water shortage

QUETTA: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has said that due to rains in Hub district of Balochistan, Hub Dam filled with water, leaving only 6 feet of water capacity to open the spillway.

According to PDMA report, the water capacity of Mirani Dam in Kech district is 246 feet, where 226 feet of water is currently available, while the water storage capacity of Sabkzai Dam in Zhob district is 94 feet and there is 30 feet of water there.

The report also said that due to lack of rain in Gwadar, the water level in all three dams there has reached near dead level.

According to the report, the water capacity of Shadi Kaur Dam in Gwadar is 82 feet, but only 2 feet of water is available there, similarly, there is one and a half feet of water in Swar Dam and only 2 feet of water in Akra Kaur Dam.
