PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, announced that the provincial government has increased the police martyrdom compensation package to Rs11 million.
Additionally, the recruitment quota for the families of martyred officers has been increased from 5 per cent to 12.5 per cent.
The announcement came during the 11th annual Police Martyrs Day ceremony held in Peshawar, a solemn occasion dedicated to honouring the sacrifices of police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, was the chief guest at the event.
The IGP Hameed paid tribute to the courage and resilience of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police.
“Our force has made extraordinary sacrifices to turn the tide of terrorism and restore peace to this land,” he stated. “The spirit of freedom, martyrdom, and bravery flows in the blood of our people and security forces. These qualities have defined our response to the gravest threats.”
“August 4 holds profound meaning for us,” he said. “It is a day to remember the sacrifices of our heroes and to renew our commitment that their legacy will never be forgotten.”

He admired the dedication of the police force in fighting terrorism, calling them “an unbreakable wall” against those who seek to destabilise the province. “Our personnel have faced the enemy with constant resolve, and their courage continues to define our path forward,” he added.
