Security forces eliminate 892 terrorists in KP operations

PESHAWAR: The security forces have killed at least 892 terrorists, including 24 most-wanted and high-value commanders, in a series of counter-terrorism operations conducted over the past seven months across various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and its merged tribal areas.

These operations were part of intensified intelligence-based actions aimed at neutralizing the resurgence of terrorist networks in the region. The extensive crackdown, which began in January 2025, has sabotaged the operational capabilities of groups affiliated with the Khawarij (militant factions), many of whom were involved in high-profile attacks against security forces and civilians.

In this sense, security forces eliminated 142 terrorists, including 10 key commanders, during multiple operations across KP.  These individuals were wanted in various terrorism-related cases and had played significant roles in coordinating attacks.

The momentum continued into February, with operations resulting in the deaths of 157 terrorists. In March, 133 militants, including 14 senior commanders, were killed.  Meanwhile in April, forces successfully neutralized 163 militants, including 12 designated as Khawarij operatives.

The operations in May led to the killing of another 88 terrorists, while June saw 96 militants eliminated. Most recently, in July, a further 113 terrorists were killed in intensified clearance operations across high-risk zones. The government and security leadership have reasserted their constant determination and commitment to ensuring peace and stability in the region.
