Curfew extended for second day in Upper South Waziristan

UPPER WAZIRISTAN: The authorities have extended a strict district-wide curfew in Upper South Waziristan for a second consecutive day, citing growing security threats in the region.

Deputy Commissioner Ismatullah Wazir endorsed the continuation of the curfew, stating that all bazaars, trade points, and public thoroughfares will remain shut. “From Sararogha to Kotkai, Spinkai Raghzai to Nazar Khel, all roads will remain sealed,” he said. “Movement from Dargai Pul, Madi Jan, Shin Warsak to Mola Khan Sarai and Chagmali will also be strictly prohibited.”

He further added that only emergency travel will be permitted and that too under strict conditions.

Furthermore, in a bid to ensure the safety of security personnel, residents have also been instructed to park their vehicles at least 100 metres away from any passing security convoy, as outlined in the notification. So far, the additional road closures include routes from Serwekai to Mola Khan Sarai and those leading toward Barwand.

Similarly, all roads connecting Tiarza to Torwam are also to remain completely blocked.
