YPF meets Governor Balochistan, seeks stronger youth voice in policy making

QUETTA: A delegation from the Young Parliamentarians Forum (YPF) of the National Assembly of Pakistan met with the Governor of Balochistan, Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, during an official visit to the province on Thursday.

YPF President Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar and General Secretary Nawabzada Mir Jamal Khan Raisani led the delegation. Members of the delegation included MNAs Muhammad Saadullah, Muhammad Muqaddad Ali Khan, Raja Usama Sarwar, Akhtar Bibi, Shaista Khan, and Muhammad Usman Badini.

YPF President Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar gave a detailed briefing on the objectives of the forum, stating that its mission is to promote youth participation in the democratic process, inclusive policymaking, and effective youth representation at the national level. She emphasized the importance of enhanced representation of women in Balochistan, adding that empowering young women and promoting gender inclusion are core goals of the forum.

MNA Nawabzada Mir Jamal Khan Raisani proposed the establishment of formal collaboration between universities in Balochistan and the YPF to build a sustainable link between academic institutions and legislative bodies. He said such partnerships would help bridge the gap between policymaking institutions and the youth of Balochistan—especially students and emerging leaders.

Governor Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail welcomed the initiative and appreciated the concept of connecting with universities. He informed the delegation that there are currently 12 public universities in Balochistan and assured full support for cooperation with YPF in this regard. The governor added that youth perspectives are vital for effective legislation and public policy, and their meaningful participation can pave the way for inclusive development.

He also praised YPF’s neutral and harmonizing efforts that bring together young lawmakers beyond political affiliations for the national interest. He acknowledged the forum’s valuable role in drawing national attention to the challenges and opportunities facing Balochistan.

Nawabzada Mir Jamal Khan Raisani informed the governor that YPF is, for the first time, working to establish its chapters at the provincial level, and this visit to Balochistan marks a significant milestone in that endeavor. He reiterated YPF’s commitment to youth-led policymaking and the promotion of national unity.
