QUETTA: A local court in Quetta on Monday ordered the exhumation of the bodies of a couple who were killed in the name of honour. The exhumation is aimed at collecting forensic evidence, as the couple was shot dead for marrying against their family’s wishes.
A video had gone viral on social media showing a man and a woman being shot and killed, sparking outrage. Following the video’s circulation, the Balochistan government took immediate action and arrested 11 suspects in the case.
On Monday, the Judicial Magistrate of Quetta directed that the couple’s graves be opened for forensic investigation. A police and forensic team was deployed to the graveyard in the Deghari area of Mastung under the supervision of the Judicial Magistrate.
Earlier today, Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against over 20 individuals after a disturbing video went viral on social media showing a man and a woman being shot and killed in the name of so-called honour.
The couple had married against their family’s wishes.
The gruesome incident occurred in the Sangdi-Degari Margat area near Quetta, and the video has since sparked widespread outrage and fear among the public.
The case has been registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act at the Hana Orak Police Station in response to the complaint of Station House Officer (SHO) Naveed Akhtar after a viral video showed the cold-blooded murder of a woman, Bano Bibi, and a man, Ehsanullah.
According to the police, the video showed both victims being taken to a remote location where they were shot dead. Preliminary investigations revealed the incident occurred three days before Eid-ul-Adha.

The SHO, along with police personnel, visited the crime scene and gathered information. Witnesses confirmed that before the execution, the victims were taken to tribal elder Sardar Sherbaz Khan, who allegedly held a Jirga (tribal court) and declared both guilty of ‘Karo Kari’ (a tribal term for illicit relations). Following the so-called verdict, the couple was taken by vehicle to Sangdi-Degari Margat and executed.
