KHUZDAR: The Levies Force rescued nine members of a Hindu family from forced labour in a remote part of Khuzdar district. The operation took place in the Khura area of Gresha tehsil.
It followed a request from Senator Danesh Kumar to Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti.
The Chief Minister acted swiftly. He ordered senior officials to take immediate action. The commissioner of Kalat Division supervised the mission, which the Levies Force carried out successfully.
The rescued family—men, women, and children from Sindh’s Sanghar district—had been working under coercion. The landlords had lured them to Balochistan with false promises. Once there, the family was forced to labour on farmland at gunpoint.
Authorities arrested two landlords, Babu and Dad Mohammad Baloch, for their role in the abuse. The Levies took the rescued family to the station in Naal. Officials recorded their statements and began legal procedures. The family will soon be handed over to the Hindu Panchayat.
The incident sparked outrage and condemnation. Human rights groups, civil society, and the Hindu Panchayat praised the government’s quick response.
