Balochistan Governor praises Reko Diq’s local hiring pledge

QUETTA: Governor of Balochistan, Jafar Khan Mandokhel, commended the Reko Diq Mining Company (RDMC) for its crucial efforts in promoting local employment and developing the region’s human resource potential. 

The appreciation came during a meeting held at the Governor’s House, where a delegation of young graduates from the RDMC International Graduate Development Program 2023 briefed the Governor following the completion of their 18-month on-the-job training in Argentina.

Furthermore, the visiting delegation included engineers and professionals from Balochistan who were part of an international training initiative aimed at increasing technical capacity and mining expertise. 

The RDMC team was led by Country Manager Drar Jamali, who provided an update on the project’s current status and its various socio-economic initiatives focused on community development.

In this regard, during the briefing, the Governor was informed that approximately 74% of the workforce currently employed by the Reko Diq project is from Balochistan. This statistic underlines the company’s dedication to integrating local talent into its operations and creating long-term employment opportunities for the province’s youth.

RDMC has sent 18 young engineers from Balochistan to receive hands-on training in its international mining operations located in Argentina and Zambia. These initiatives are designed to ensure that local professionals gain exposure to global best practices and modern mining technologies.
