ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has released a detailed report on the damages caused by monsoon rains across Pakistan.
According to the NDMA, torrential rains have so far claimed 124 lives and left 264 people injured nationwide. Punjab has reported the highest number of casualties, with 49 deaths and 158 injuries, including 28 children among the deceased.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 38 people lost their lives and 57 were injured. Sindh recorded 20 fatalities and 40 injured, while Baluchistan reported 16 deaths and 4 injuries. Azad Kashmir saw one fatality.
The report highlighted that children account for the majority of the deaths during the monsoon season. It also stated that the heavy rains have damaged a total of 522 houses, of which 367 were partially damaged and 155 were completely destroyed.

In addition, 9 bridges were affected, and approximately 10.5 kilometers of roads were damaged. The monsoon also resulted in the death of 126 livestock animals, adding to the overall losses. It is worth mentioning that heavy rains have hit Loralai, Ziarat and Quetta on Wednesday. Loralai turned out to be the rainiest part with 23 mm of rainfall whereas 18 mm rainfall was recorded in Ziarat. The rainwater stream water was hit with floods during heavy rain.
