PDMA reports 16 dead, 8 injured following heavy monsoon rains in Balochistan

QUETTA: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has confirmed that heavy monsoon rains have taken a deadly toll across Balochistan, claiming 16 lives, injuring 8 others, and damaging 58 houses.

According to the PDMA latest data released, seven children and four women were also among the deceased. The worst-hit district was Khuzdar, where 6 fatalities were reported, followed by Zhob with 4 deaths, Musakhel with 2, and Kohlu, Lasbela, Ziarat, and Loralai each reporting one death.

A total of 58 homes have been affected so far during the current monsoon season, 11 completely destroyed and 47 partially damaged, PDMA report revealed.

Additionally, four public properties have sustained damage, including three revenue offices and one building of the education department.

The PDMA continues to monitor the situation and has urged citizens to remain cautious during ongoing and upcoming spells of monsoon rain. Relief and assessment operations are ongoing in the affected areas.
