QUETTA: At least 239 people were killed and 15,690 people were injured in a total of 12,110 road traffic accidents occurred across the Balochistan in first half of 2025.
According to a half-yearly report released by the Medical Emergency Response Center (MERC) 1122 Balochistan, it revealed that a sharp and alarming rise in fatal road accidents across Balochistan.
MERC report reveals that the N-25 highway near Winder alone witnessed 724 accidents, with 25 fatalities and 952 injuries. Other severely affected districts include Kalat, Mastung, Khuzdar, Pishin, Zhob, Killa Saifullah, Loralai, Surab, Jaffarabad, Noshki, Washuk, Kech, and Panjgur, where numerous fatal incidents were recorded.
The most accident-prone zones were identified as N-50 Trauma Center in Zhob, with 4,201 accidents, and N-25 Trauma Center in Khuzdar, reporting 2,412 accidents in the six-month period.
The report further reveals that thousands of families have been affected by these accidents, and a large number of the injured continue to suffer from severe medical, psychological, and financial challenges.

Civil society groups and transport experts have called on the Government of Balochistan, the National Highway Authority (NHA), and the Communications Department to take urgent safety measures, to prevent further loss of life.
