High-level meeting held at Supreme Court Registry in Quetta

QUETTA: A high-level meeting was held at the Supreme Court Registry Branch in Quetta, chaired by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi.

The session reviewed the collaboration between Bar Associations and the Law and Justice Commission.

Discussions focused on strengthening institutional links to improve the justice delivery system.

Representatives from the Balochistan High Court, Supreme Court, and Pakistan Bar Council were in attendance.

Chief Justice Afridi announced the appointment of Law Commission representatives in every province.

These representatives will oversee development work within district bar associations.

According to the official statement issued after the meeting, effective implementation of justice-related projects at the district level was emphasized.

Concerns were raised over the lack of infrastructure in underdeveloped districts.

The meeting also announced free legal representation for underprivileged litigants.

It was decided that lawyers providing such assistance would be compensated by the state, with payments up to Rs. 50,000.

Additionally, it was agreed to extend the scope of legal aid to the Supreme Court level.

The meeting also considered utilizing training programs offered by the Federal Judicial Academy for lawyer development.
