ISLAMABAD: The Frontier Corps (FC) is being rebranded as the “Federal Constabulary,” with its jurisdiction extended across all four provinces, Islamabad, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. In this regard, recruitment for the Federal Constabulary will be conducted nationwide.
To formalize this transformation, the Frontier Corps Act of 1915 will be amended. New regional offices for the Federal Constabulary will be established across the country.
The force will be commanded by officers from the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP). This move aims to strengthen internal security and enhance law and order across Pakistan.
The decision comes at a critical time, as Pakistan faces increased proxy warfare in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, allegedly supported by foreign elements.
These proxy groups have been launching lethal attacks not only on military personnel but also on key religious figures, social leaders, and civil administration officials. Moreover, they have actively targeted infrastructure linked to ongoing development projects.
These acts of terrorism are seen as attempts to destabilize and weaken Pakistan from within.
