Pakistan Navy foils major smuggling bid, seizes Rs 350m worth of liquor off Gadani Coast

QUETTA: In a record-breaking anti-narcotics operation, the Excise and Anti-Narcotics Department, Pakistan Navy, and Maritime Security Agency foiled a major liquor smuggling attempt near the Gadani coast in Balochistan.

Acting on intelligence, the joint team seized 10,000 bottles of foreign liquor and beer. The total value of the seized liquor is estimated at Rs. 350 million.

An international smuggling network was using both sea and land routes to bring the liquor into Pakistan.

Authorities have registered a case. Further investigation is in progress.

According to the Director General, the department is also cracking down on poppy cultivation in several districts. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to making Balochistan a drug-free zone with support from federal and provincial agencies.
