NASEERABAD: A powerful roadside explosion struck a Highway Police vehicle near Qadeer Kot on Sunday, leaving three police officers injured and the vehicle completely destroyed, officials said.
According to police sources, the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) planted along the roadside. The device detonated as the police vehicle passed by, specifically targeting the patrol unit.
The injured officers have been identified as Sub-Inspector Ghulam Murtaza Mangi, Constable Naik Muhammad Bugti, and Constable Haroon Punjabi. All three were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Their condition is said to be stable, though two suffered serious injuries.
Security forces and bomb disposal units rushed to the site soon after the incident. The area was cordoned off, and a search operation was launched to trace those responsible for the attack.
No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the bombing.
The attack highlights the persistent security challenges faced by law enforcement in parts of Balochistan, where such targeted attacks against police and security forces have been reported in the past.
