JUI-F challenges Balochistan Mines and Minerals Act in High Court

JUI-F challenges Balochistan Mines and Minerals Act in High Court

Islamabad – Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) has filed a petition in the Balochistan High Court challenging the recently approved Mines and Minerals Act.

Senator Kamran Murtaza expressed serious concerns over the act’s passage by the Balochistan Assembly, stating that every constitutional option will be explored to oppose it.

He pointed out that the chairmanship of the Standing Committee was held by JUI-F, yet the bill was passed in the absence of the chairman.

Murtaza declared that the Mines and Minerals Act will ultimately be repealed, as the federal government has no right over Balochistan’s mineral resources, which rightfully belong to the province’s people.

He emphasized that any exploitation of their rights would not be tolerated, adding, “Our members were deceived.”

Meanwhile, JUI-F Balochistan Ameer, Senator Maulana Abdul Wasey, stated that the act has formally been challenged in the Balochistan High Court.

He affirmed that the party would raise its voice against the Mines and Minerals Act on every platform.

He warned that if the act is implemented, life in Balochistan would become unlivable for the locals.
