NORTH WAZIRISTAN: At least 13 people, including personnel of security forces, have been martyred after a suicide attack carried out near a convoy of security forces in North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday.
As per the details, a suicide bomber smashed his vehicle into a mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicle of the bomb disposal unit of the military in Khaddi area of Mir Ali teshil of the district, which shares a border with Afghanistan. The attack took place around 7:45 am.
The Khorasan Diary in its official X account reported that at least 13 soldiers died. Another 24 people were injured, including 14 civilians. Some of the injured, including women and children, are in critical condition.
Security forces imposed a curfew in the area earlier this morning due to military movement.
The Usood ul Harab, a sub-faction of the Hafiz Gul Bahadar Group, claimed responsibility. Their suicide unit, Huzaifa Ishthihadi Kandak, was also mentioned in the statement.
This is the deadliest attack in North Waziristan in recent months.
