QUETTA: Mr. Hafizullah Khosa, Deputy Director Social Welfare Department has said that natural disasters are very dangerous for humans and farmers. Timely preparation and awareness and preparedness are essential to reduce financial and crop losses.
He said that the Balochistan government is working to address the issues, NGOs are playing their role very well in educating farmers and local people in communities. It is our duty to support such initiatives to save our future and livelihood.
Mr. Hafizullah Khosa said this while addressing the participants of the follow-up consultation workshop on disaster preparedness organized in Jhal Magsi in collaboration with Human Organization for Peaceful Environment (HOPE) and Welthungerhilfe (WHH). During the workshop, participants discussed various issues and presented key findings and recommendations from the initial workshop held on 15 May 2025.
The workshop aimed to strengthen disaster preparedness at the district level, enhance early warning mechanisms, promote institutional coherence and ensure the involvement of smallholder farmers in emergency response planning.
Special emphasis was placed on identifying practical tools and effective communication channels for timely dissemination of information during natural disasters.
The event was formally inaugurated by the Deputy Director, Social Welfare Department, who appreciated HOPE’s proactive and community-based approach to disaster risk reduction. He acknowledged the relevance of such initiatives in building local resilience and expressed his best wishes for the organization’s continued efforts in the region.

During the session, the facilitators presented a comprehensive report, outlining key findings, identified gaps, and strategic actions suggested during the initial consultations. The presentation provided a roadmap for enhancing coordination among stakeholders and integrating community-based solutions into the district’s disaster management framework.
