Pakistan and U.S. agree on terror elimination

WASHINGTON/  ISLAMABAD: In a major development, Pakistan and the United States have agreed to eliminate all forms of terrorism, including threats from the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

U.S. Secretary of State Mark Kubio held a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, as confirmed by the Prime Minister’s Office.

During the call, the U.S. Secretary appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in counter-terrorism and reiterated that the U.S. is ready to cooperate with Pakistan in eradicating terrorism from the region. He affirmed continued American support for Pakistan in promoting both regional and global peace.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed Pakistan’s firm resolve to wipe out all terrorist elements from its territory, specifically naming BLA, TTP, and other extremist factions.

He emphasized the importance of enhanced cooperation with the U.S. in trade, energy, IT, and mineral development sectors.

He also welcomed the meeting between Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Asim Munir, and former U.S. President Donald Trump.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister conveyed Pakistan’s readiness to contribute to peace efforts in the Middle East and reiterated that Pakistan is always open to dialogue with India.

However, he stressed that such talks should address issues like terrorism, water aggression, the Kashmir conflict, and overall regional tension.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also appreciated U.S. efforts in preventing the risk of war between Pakistan and India.
