QUETTA: Facing persistent threats from India-backed insurgent groups and rising sectarian violence, the Government of Balochistan has significantly increased its budget for counter-terrorism and law enforcement in the fiscal year 2024–2025.
The allocation now stands at Rs84 billion, marking a 53% surge from the previous year’s Rs54.9 billion.
Key components of this enhanced budget include Rs1.497 billion for upgrading law enforcement vehicles and Rs1 billion for the Gwadar Safe City Project, aimed at strengthening surveillance and rapid response capabilities in the port city.
In response to escalating challenges—particularly the Baloch separatist insurgency and sectarian violence—the government has also allocated increased funding to the Frontier Corps, police modernization, and intelligence operations.
Authorities cite the growing influence of groups like Fitna-al-Hindustan (an umbrella for BLA, BLF, and BRAS) as major security concerns.
