Sanitation workers attacked during anti-encroachment operation

QUETTA: In Quetta, sanitation workers were brutally assaulted by shopkeepers during an anti-encroachment operation. Several shopkeepers were taken into custody.

According to Quetta Commissioner Hamza Shafqaat, the sanitation team was ordered to clean the area and remove encroachments from the main market.

As the operation began, a group of enraged shopkeepers attacked the workers, severely injuring several of them. Following the assault, police intervened on the commissioner’s instructions and detained multiple individuals involved.

Commissioner Shafqaat condemned the violence, calling it inhumane and unacceptable, stating that sanitation workers are not lesser individuals and deserve respect.

He emphasized, “Our workers are our heroes.” However, the arrested shopkeepers were later released on court orders.
