ISLAMABAD: Following General Asim Munir’s promotion to Field Marshal, Indian media launched a new wave of baseless accusations. Indian TV channel Republic and other outlets linked his promotion to the false flag Pulwama attack, once again accusing Pakistan without any evidence. They alleged that Asim Munir orchestrated the killing of tourists in Pulwama to secure the top military rank. Further propaganda claimed that he aims to solidify permanent command of the Pakistani military. Indian media also drew comparisons with 1965, alleging that General Ayub Khan had similarly awarded himself the Field Marshal title.
It is worth mentioning that Asim Munir has been promoted to the prestigious rank of Field Marshal, becoming the second officer in Pakistan’s history to hold this title after General Ayub Khan. The decision was made during a high-level federal cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, where several key national security matters were discussed.
